Bangor University Mens 1st team played Leeds Metropolitan 3rds in the BUCS Northern Conference Cup in March. This is the 3rd year in a row that Bangor and Leeds Met Carnegie have played each other in the final. But this year Bangor took the title. The cup consisted of approximately 47 teams.
This year has been a very successful year for Bangor, with Bangor Men's 1st's just losing out on being top of the league to Manchester University 1st's.
Over the Easter break Bangor competed in the Welsh Universities Cup (WUC). Again Bangor's team put in an outstanding effort, just losing out in the team event to Swansea University in the 2-3 loss in the final.
In the individuals event Bangor took the Mixed beating Swansea University in the final with an excellent performance by Richard Morrissey and Hannah Stephenson. The semi final in the doubles was Bangor Vs Bangor which was one of the highlights of the day, the defence of Bangor was as sturdy as wood in the semi-final but Gavan Townley and Ben Travers broke through it. The doubles final was taken by Cardiff University against Bangor in the final 21-17, 22-20 Ben Travers and Gavan Townley were unlucky not to take it to 3. The singles was again taken by Cardiff University, Gareth Dixon of Bangor put in 100% and came home with Silver.
This was the last event of the year for Bangor University and it was good to come home with Medals.
